Libertarian Party Thanks Candidates and Highlights Ballot Access Results

Party calls on Democrats to pursue freedom based policies that support prosperity

HOUSTON, TX — November 4, 2026 — The Libertarian Party thanked its candidates and campaign teams following Tuesday’s elections and highlighted preliminary results in three states with implications for future ballot access. The party also called on Democrats elected Tuesday to advance freedom-based policies that support prosperity and protect individual rights.

Arkansas gubernatorial candidate Colt Shelby received approximately 8% in early reporting, above the state’s 3% party-recognition threshold. In Ohio, the gubernatorial ticket of Don Kissick and James Mills was reporting approximately 3.3%, above that state’s 3% threshold. Indiana news reporting indicated that Secretary of State candidate Lauri Shillings reached the 2% threshold required to maintain automatic ballot status.

The figures are unofficial. Final ballot-access outcomes depend on completed counts and the applicable election authorities’ determinations.

“I am proud of our candidates and grateful for the commitment they made to their communities,” said Evan McMahon, Chair of the Libertarian National Committee. “They gave voters a Libertarian choice and helped preserve opportunities for future candidates. It is an honor to serve as chair while they carry that work forward.”

The party thanked candidates who contested federal, state, and local offices, as well as the volunteers, donors, and families who supported their campaigns. It will continue reviewing local results and other notable performances as returns become available.

“Our candidates stepped forward, built campaign teams, and gave voters an opportunity to choose Libertarian representation,” said Olivia Hayse, Chair of the Candidate Support Committee. “We thank them for the work they put into these races. Their experience will help us prepare and support future candidates.”

The Libertarian Party urged Democrats elected Tuesday to pursue policies that expand economic opportunity, including removing barriers to starting businesses and building housing, defending privacy and due process, and improving government transparency. The party said it would assess proposals by their effects on individual freedom and prosperity.

“We call on Democrats to use the offices they have won to give people greater freedom and more opportunity to prosper,” McMahon said. “Voters deserve practical improvements in their lives, and we encourage elected officials to advance policies that deliver them.”
