For Immediate Release Thursday, March 19, 2009
NIVERVILLE, NY — Libertarian congressional candidate Eric Sundwall said today that if he had been in Congress he would have voted against Obama’s economic stimulus plan but would have introduced amendments to make a bad bill somewhat better. “My position on the Obama plan is no with amendments. The notion of economic stimulus is misguided and false. The government’s inflation of the monetary supply causes the boom and bust cycle. Unlike Tedisco who could not be bothered to take a stand for weeks then said yes with amendments and now no, I have always opposed the stimulus scheme. However, I recognize that these sorts of measures are likely to pass anyway. Therefore, I would sponsor amendments to improve this bad bill. ”
First , Sundwall would sponsor an amendment to enact Congressman Ron Paul’s bill to audit the Federal Reserve System.
Second , Sundwall would bar the use of stimulus money to fund professional sports teams or their facilities.
Third , Sundwall would prohibit the use of stimulus funds to finance eminent domain that would transfer private property to other individuals, firms or associations.
Fourth , Sundwall would prohibit any stimulus financing going to any international lending institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or World Bank.
Sundwall will be in the Times-Union and WMHT TV debate on Thursday 3/19 and the League of Women Voters/WROW Radio debate on Thursday 3/26. He is still trying to get in the debate at WNYT TV on Tuesday 3/24, according to campaign manager Richard Cooper.
Eric Sundwall is the current chair of the Libertarian Party of New York ( www.ny.lp.org ) and is a resident of Niverville, New York in the Town of Kinderhook in Columbia County. Kinderhook was home of Martin Van Buren, our eighth President and a leading opponent of the Bank of the United States. Sundwall is an information technology consultant, married with two children.
