Discover Our Mission

We Are The Party of Principle

The Libertarian Party, by its very founding, exists to push American culture towards an understanding of libertarianism, the philosophy of liberty, and to use the political system to recover and protect the rights of the people wherever and whenever possible.

This demands of the Libertarian Party to develop a messaging strategy that both forthrightly speaks to the principles of liberty and, by contrast, the corruption of the state and its partners in academia, media and other corporatist entities, while also developing a political strategy that operates within political reality for third parties and exploit our opportunities where we can find them. This big picture is the Libertarian Mission.

The idea of the Libertarian Party was to create a new instrument for social change. The Libertarian Party is not an end unto itself, it is the means to an end. That end, of course, is liberty.

We are the hard money party, we are the peace party. Those two issues go hand-in-hand.

If Freedom is to spread throughout the world, we have to free America First. The rest of the world will then follow our example.”
David Nolan, Founder of the Libertarian Party

What We're Doing

Run Locally Campaign and Local DOGE Initiative

The opportunities for libertarians to win and to expand liberty in real life exist overwhelmingly at the local level. Specifically, seats like city council, mayor and school board offer opportunities that are both within the realm of political reality while also having enough power to actually effect change in the community and, collectively, in the country.

In addition to this, the Department of Government Efficiency has finally cracked the conversation about government spending, waste, fraud, abuse and deficits to the forefront. In a time where Americans are hurting, huge spending is a burdon to the average person struggling to get by. We intend to take the DOGE concept to the local level with our candidates to root out these excesses to further benefit the American people.

Freeing Political Prisoners via Pardon Negotiations

The Chair of the Libertarian Party has, in an unprecedented move, opened up communications between Libertarians and the president and his team through his presence at our most recent convention. For the first time, Libertarians have a direct ability to argue our case to the sitting administration.

She has used this position to negotiate a pledge from Donald Trump for the freedom of Ross Ulbricht. She is currently also campaigning to secure a pardon for Roger Ver. We will continue to fight for any freedom fighters that are unjustly imprisoned.

Issue Coalition Campaigns

“Progress is best achieved by working with coalitions which bring people together without anyone sacrificing their principles” – Ron Paul

Libertarians have been expanding the overton window for decades. One of the most effective ways of doing this is through creating coalitions with other people and organizations, whether libertarian or not, on an issue of overlap and seeing it through.

The Libertarian Party is taking these opportunities every bit as seriously as its candidates. We are putting together teams to support issues that are key to the libertarian agenda, seeking out partners and deploying volunteers to work on these issues until they win the day within America.

Project Cicero

Scaling membership of the party is a matter of data acquisition, marketing strategy and messaging. More members means more candidates and volunteers for all of the above efforts. In today’s world, simple word of mouth is not enough to grow a dissident political party such that it can rival the uniparty. We must spend the money to find our allies, market to them and recruit them to our cause.

Activism Programs

Free Ross

The Libertarian Party stands firmly against unjust incarceration and is committed to advocating for the freedom of Ross Ulbricht, a political prisoner serving an excessive double life sentence for his involvement in the Silk Road marketplace. His case highlights the overreach of the justice system and the need for reform. By championing Ross’s cause, Libertarians continue to fight for due process, individual liberty, and a fair judicial system. Join us in our efforts to seek justice and bring Ross home.

Free Roger

The Libertarian Party remains dedicated to fighting for justice and individual liberty, including advocating for the release of political prisoner Roger Ver. Known as “Bitcoin Jesus,” Roger has been a trailblazer for economic freedom through cryptocurrency. His case underscores the urgent need to defend innovators from government overreach. Libertarians are at the forefront of this fight, working tirelessly to secure justice and protect the freedoms of all. Join us in standing up for Roger Ver and the principles of liberty.

Legislative Programs

Defend the Guard

Defend the Guard is state level legislation that would prevent the National Guard from being deployed into overseas combat missions. This is giving state level backbone to what is already the constitutional standard for going to war which has been ignored for every conflict that America has been involved in since World War 2.

Let Us Coin Together

The founders of our country never intended for a central bank to control the issuance of currency, for that currency to be fiat, to control interest rates, to bail out private enterprise or to own the property and the companies of the American People. The Let Us Coin Together Campaign is a campaign to return sound money to the people through the states by legalizing the use of alternatives to the dollar like Gold, Silver and Bitcoin.

Decriminalize Psychadelics

The next domino to fall in ending the drug war is in the realm of psychedelics. Clinical trials are showing again and again their efficacy in treating even treatment resistant instances of depression, anxiety, addiction, PTSD and other psychological ailments. In a world where suicide where these maladies, including suicide, is in the rise in various demographics from veterans to teenagers, a new path is urgently needed.
