Melissa Couture
Candidate Bio
Melissa is a systems analyst, Libertarian activist, and mother of three living in South Carolina’s House District 15.
After moving to South Carolina in 2011, Melissa built a career as an ERP Systems Analyst, helping organizations streamline operations and make smarter use of their resources. That same instinct for efficiency and accountability shapes her approach to state government: spend less, waste less, and make every dollar transparent to the people it belongs to.
Melissa joined the Libertarian Party in 2016 and has since become one of its most active voices in the Palmetto State. She currently serves as Second Vice Chair of the South Carolina Libertarian Party, Chair of Charleston County LP, and Chair of the SCLP Campaigns Committee — working to build a principled, independent alternative for the nearly one in three South Carolinians who feel unrepresented by either major party.
As a candidate for SC House District 15, Melissa is running on a platform of lower taxes, smaller government, and expanded personal freedom. She supports phasing out the state income tax, full budget transparency, marijuana legalization, and prison reform that rewards rehabilitation over recidivism.
An avid reader, Melissa believes an informed citizenry is the foundation of a free society.
