Matthew Kordon
Candidate Bio
Kordon was born in Maryland in the 1990s and grew up in Raleigh, NC. He graduated from UNC Wilmington, where he earned a degree in Computer Science. Following time in Florida during the COVID-19 lockdown, he has lived in his district in Cary as a software engineer, church volunteer, and entrepreneur.
Inspired by American-English Classical Liberal thinkers (such as John Locke and Samuel Adams), Kordon discovered the Libertarian Party in 2013 and became deeply involved beginning in 2023, when he ran for State House the year after. At the 2026 LP NC Convention, Kordon’s “Environmental Stewardship” plank was unanimously approved by the many delegates.
In 2024, Kordon ran for office as a pragmatist inspired by Gary Johnson, hoping to give like-minded people a voice. By 2026, his focus shifted from ideology to District 11’s kitchen-table concerns, recognizing that the political class cannot be trusted to solve the community’s most basic problems. Kordon hopes that by focusing on one area within the District, he can demonstrate enough love for liberty to pressure the incumbent to respond to signed petitions, all while he trains volunteers.
