Candidate Bio

My name is Lee Ormiston.

My parents were both Colorado natives.

I was born in Colorado and have lived here all my life.

I graduated from Denver’s George Washington High School, and moved to Arapahoe County in 1983, and have lived in the same house ever since then. Arapahoe County truly is my HOME !!

I bring a wealth of knowledge to the Assessor’s race having worked in the Arapahoe County Assessor’s Office from 1995 to 2005.

During my employment, I participated in the annual property valuation protest conferences with property owners, and the annual property valuation hearings. In my role there, I appraised a broad array of properties and understand all too well the burden that home owners carry at the hand of the tax man. While an Assessor cannot directly affect property tax law, I can work with property owners to navigate the system and provide education, compassion, transparency, and kindness.

Equally important, I can help property owners understand how they can work to decrease their tax burden as well as how to work to reduce the size and power of a government bent on ever increasing tax burdens upon its citizens.

Remember to vote ‘NO’ on bond issues that come each election day. Bonds are nothing more than a tax by a government spending money that it does not have on projects that it cannot afford – and CHARGING YOU INTEREST on top of that deceptive tax!!! Bonds are a big reason why your property taxes keep going up year after year.
