Candidate Bio

Joe has been involved in politics since 1999 when he realized that the two major parties did not represent his views. He believes in strong fiscal restraint, leaving the free market and private economy to take care of the vast majority of needs. He is also an unrelenting defender of social freedoms and privacy.
in 2004 Joe was elected to Town Trustee (Councilman) in the Town of Frederick where he fought to keep spending under control and defending the rights of town citizens. During his tenure he ran campaigns and successfully defeated two mil levy overrides (tax increases), as well as defeating two ‘pillow taxes’ on local hotels. In short, Joe isn’t just ‘talk’, he has the experience, and he gets things done!
Joe is running for the Board of Regents because it is long past time that someone stand up and cry ‘FOUL’ concerning the mess of higher education in Colorado – and indeed around the country. Tuition has risen so high that it is no longer the case that a college education automatically assures higher income over a graduate’s career. Today students are saddled with debt for decades after graduation, with many graduates wondering why they took the step of higher education in the first place.
And NO, student loan forgiveness is NOT the answer! Reducing the costs and increasing the quality of education IS!! Our universities place more emphasis on sports than education. Universities have made graduating a joke with some of the silly classes offered (one university has “Whisky Appreciation” as a course of study!! We have local bars for that). Universities need to be less beholden and less dependent on government. Vote for Joe, and he will work on paving the path toward privatizing our universities and make Universities beholden to students and return education to the level that it once was – top tier, as opposed to rubber-stamped diplomas. Where graduating students are once again valuable in the marketplace.
