Candidate Bio

Jeff Lyon is a father, veteran, engineer, and community activist running for Washington State House as a Libertarian.

He champions pragmatic, cross-party solutions that put people over politics: eliminating state taxes for working families under $125K, fully and permanently funding public schools, and cutting public university tuition in half for high-paying technical fields like software engineering, AI, robotics, and medical sciences. A key part of this approach would be a modest 2% tax on the three key dimensions of AI: compute power, data center electricity, and AI services. This would generate new revenue from innovation and return money to working families.

He would also reform state regulations, such as the Growth Management Act (GMA), that create artificial housing scarcity. This has enabled land speculators to flip properties for 7x – 11x profits while delivering almost nothing for residents. In Woodinville, just 25 so-called “affordable” homes were built over the past decade. These homes are often only $200 cheaper, dropping a $2,800 apartment to $2,600, which remains out of reach for many residents.

Jeff brings practical leadership and common-sense governance to the fight for liberty, fiscal responsibility, and opportunity for all Washingtonians.
