James Mills — Candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Ohio

James Mills is a business leader, financial professional, community advocate, and Libertarian candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Ohio alongside gubernatorial candidate Don Kissick.

As CEO of Ironvest Financial Partners, James works with individuals, families, small businesses, and employers on financial education, retirement planning, employee benefits, and long-term financial security. His career has included leadership and financial-services roles at both national organizations and growing businesses, giving him firsthand experience with the challenges Ohio families and entrepreneurs face.

James earned his MBA and holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ designation. Before entering financial services, he served through AmeriCorps, working in homeless-services program development—an experience that helped shape his belief that strong communities are built by empowering people and local organizations rather than expanding bureaucracy.

James has also served in leadership within the Libertarian Party of Ohio and has been active in building local political organization in Warren County. His approach to government is rooted in a simple principle: government should be smaller, more transparent, more accountable, and more respectful of individual liberty.

As a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, James is focused on responsibly ending Ohio’s property tax burden, strengthening small businesses and locally driven economic development, protecting civil liberties and due process, improving education by empowering teachers and families rather than compliance bureaucracies, and confronting government corruption through stronger transparency and Sunshine Law enforcement.

James believes Ohio does not need government to pick winners and losers. It needs government to get out of the way, protect individual rights, hold public institutions accountable, and create an environment where families, businesses, and communities can build their own futures.
