Candidate Bio

Don moved to Ohio in 2007 with his first wife, Marcy.

They came to the Buckeye State looking for better opportunities and a lower cost of living. Things did not work out as planned at first, but he took a chance on a temporary position with a strong employer and got his foot in the door. That progress was later disrupted by a long recession-related layoff.

During that uncertain stretch, he began taking a hard look at the role of government and the track record of the major political parties. Those entrenched camps seemed more focused on constant legislation and interference than on solving real problems.

Around the same time, Marcy’s health declined. While he joined the Libertarian Party, ran for office for the first time, returned to work, faced another layoff, and eventually secured steady employment again, she fought leukemia for two years with determination and courage.

Marcy ultimately lost that battle. That chapter brought deep loss, reflection, renewed faith, and personal growth. Hard experiences reshaped his outlook and reinforced a belief that life’s ups and downs can still be met with hope.

Not long after, Don met Sarah. Shared challenges helped form a strong bond. He moved to Ottawa in 2014, and they married a few months later.

Today, he and Sarah are raising their son, Jeremiah, along with his stepdaughter, Cameron. They have put down roots in northwestern Ohio, a place he proudly calls home.

Don served six years in the United States Navy, deploying twice to the Middle East during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

He is running to represent you.
