Angelo Joyner

Candidate Bio

Angelo Joyner was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, the eighth of ten children. Family has remained an important part of his life. He has been married to his wife for 39 years, and together they are the parents of three adult children.

Angelo dedicated 20 years to military service, spending 18 years as a combat medic. His military career included four tours in Iraq as well as Airborne and Air Assault experience. His military awards include Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) Medal, NATO Metal, and Iraq Campaign Medal with a silver star.

After completing his military service, Angelo transitioned into civilian life and continued working in a variety of service-oriented and community-facing roles. His experience has included working as an Emergency Medical Technician, in parking enforcement, as a utility locator identifying underground electrical, telephone, cable, and gas lines, and as a correctional officer.

Together, these experiences have given Angelo the opportunity to work with people in very different circumstances and environments.They are part of a life that has extended beyond military service into the everyday workforce and community.

Today, Angelo is a husband, father, veteran, and member of the community. His life has been shaped by family, services, responsibility, and a commitment to helping others.
