The Libertarian Party of Illinois submitted 53,000 signatures on June 27, to get statewide candidates on the general election ballot.
25,000 valid signatures are required.
LNC chair Nicholas Sarwark said:
“The state of Illinois makes it incredibly difficult for anyone other than the two old parties to be heard. They have incredibly high petition signature requirements just to be on the ballot.
“Today, thanks to the hard work of volunteers and financial supporters, we responded to these unfair requirements by giving the state of Illinois a pile of petition signatures 19 inches tall.
“Over 53,000 Illinoisans want a better choice on their ballot, and we’re making sure they have it this November.”
