Three candidates for the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination have announced their intention to run and have been attending state party conventions in 2015:

  • Dr. Marc Feldman of Ohio is an anesthesiologist and member of the National Libertarian Committee
  • Darryl Perry of New Hampshire is a podcaster, author and owner of Free Press Publications
  • Steve Kerbel of Colorado is an author, businessman and entrepreneur

The candidates have campaign websites, are dues-paying members of the LP, have met all U.S. Constitutional requirements to serve in office as president, and are not running for the nomination of any other political party. They have filed with the FEC, with the exception of Darryl Perry, who has chosen not to file as a protest against the FEC, claiming it lacks constitutional authority.

Two-term governor Gary Johnson, who was the 2012 Libertarian candidate for president and is former governor of New Mexico, has said he expects to run again in 2016 “unless something catastrophic happens.”

“I’m looking forward to an exciting race for our Presidential nomination,” said Nicholas Sarwark, Libertarian National Committee Chair. “At our convention May 26–30, 2016 in Orlando, the Libertarian Party delegates will nominate a candidate who will give Americans who value liberty a real option, while the old parties will nominate candidates who will continue the same failed policies of the George W. Bush and Obama administrations.”
