Below is a press release from the Jorgensen for President campaign, on June 18, 2020:
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.; June 18, 2020— Beginning Friday, Dr. Jo Jorgensen, the Libertarian presidential candidate, will be attending events in the Twin Cities to pay her respects to George Floyd and other victims of police violence.
June 19 will mark the 155th anniversary of the ending of slavery in the United States following the Civil War. Jorgensen is the only one of the three major candidates for president scheduled to make an appearance at this weekend’s “Juneteenth” commemorations and events.
“Recognizing the increasing evidence of widespread inappropriate use of force by law enforcement, I am committed to listening and then doing what I can to end police misconduct,” said Jorgensen.
“I am also committed to ending the drug war, qualified immunity, no-knock warrants, and other misguided policies which create the setting conducive to much of this violence,” she said. “Neither of my opponents have the insight or courage to take these stands.”
