Libertarian National Committee Chair Nicholas Sarwark appeared as the featured guest on the “1A” radio show on WAMU 88.5 FM, American University Radio, a National Public Radio affiliate based in Washington, D.C.
Host Joshua Johnson interviewed Sarwark for the full hour-long program. They explored several topics — fielding impromptu questions from listeners — including what it means to be a Libertarian, cutting not just taxes but federal spending, gay weddings and religious freedom, the wasted-vote syndrome, Ayn Rand’s influence on the libertarian movement, Sarwark’s 2018 campaign for mayor of Phoenix, violent rallies vs. free speech, and more.
The goal of “1A,” who took its name from the first amendment, is to “act as a national mirror — taking time to help America look at itself and to ask what it wants to be.” This episode was rebroadcast on other NPR affiliates as well.
