Ed Zielinski, who switched from the Republican to the Libertarian Party last year, is running for reelection to the Elsmere, Delaware Town Council.
The election will take place on Saturday, April 29.
Zielinski has fought against all tax increases brought up by the town council, and last year was successful in stopping one. He also was able to get tax relief for disabled and senior citizens, and has continually pushed for more spending cuts and tax cuts.
He says that Elsmere, which comprises about one square mile, has annual taxes close to those of New Castle County, where Elsmere is located.
He also fought, unsuccessfully, the town council’s decision to allow it to borrow up to $20 million, which is 80% of the town’s assets. A referendum had been required for the town council to borrow over $115,000, before the town charter was changed by the council.
