Lydia Christensen

Candidate Bio

Lydia Christensen is the Libertarian Party of Michigan’s nominee for U.S. Senate, running under the campaign Unchaining Michigan. She grew up in the foster care system and built her foundation from scratch, earning the equivalent of two degrees in computer science and computer programming. Her family’s roots trace to Ironwood, in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and she lives there now. Lydia is a member of the Kiowa-Sioux Nation and has connected her campaign’s civil liberties platform to tribal sovereignty and federal treaty obligations. Her Senate platform is built on civil liberties absolutism and economic populism, combining positions like ending mass surveillance and defending Second Amendment rights with support for Medicaid for All and Social Security, both structured around opt-in mechanics rather than mandates. She answers to no donor class and no party machine. Michigan deserves a Senator who belongs to the people, and Lydia intends to be exactly that
