Russian interference

I thought I’d share this recent commentary from Vice Chair, Arvin Vohra:

The latest hypocritical argument from American media: Russia “interfered with” the 2016 elections by leaking facts about the Clinton campaign. At the same time, the press appears entirely ignorant of the exponentially larger levels at which the U.S. government interferes politically, economically, and militarily with the politics of many foreign nations.

The U.S. government props up regimes throughout the Middle East, literally using the military to support one side of political disputes. At other times, it enforces its political will through trade sanctions that create food and medicine shortages.

Right now, the U.S. government is literally involved in a *civil* war in Syria. It has engaged in continual drone strikes in Pakistan. It seems entirely unable to respect the sovereignty of any nation.

And all of this was maintained under 8 years of a supposedly liberal Democrat as Commander-in-Chief.

The U.S. government needs to get out of the political affairs of other nations before it has any business pointing fingers at anyone else. Complaining about Russia’s “interference” is laughably hypocritical.

I should disclose that LNC Vice Chair Arvin Vohra, Chair Nicholas Sarwark, and LNC staff have sometimes been guests on Russia Today (RT.com).  We have offered to be guests on all major mainstream American media outlets, such as CNN, Fox News, ABC, NBC, and CBS, and that offer still stands. But those outlets almost never include Libertarian Party officials. I can imagine Libertarians will start telling minor news outlets like Russia Today that we don’t have time for them–once the mainstream American media stops keeping the Libertarian viewpoint from Americans.
